When will MiCA enter into force and start applying?

In general, MiCA has already entered into force - on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, which was on 9th June 2023.

MiCA’s application has been set for 30 June 2024 for asset-referenced tokens and e-money tokens.

For other provisions not constituting grounds for enactment of draft regulatory standards, the date is 30 December 2024.

Provisions that allow the enactment of regulatory standards began to apply from 29 June 2023, and both EBA and ESMA have already started their work on these standards.
